We ended 2012 atop the snowy summits at Ensign Ranch and slunk dejectedly back into our routines of school and work. January is kind of a bummer month in Washington; it's coldish and rainy and dark and rarely snowy. To brighten up the drudgery, Joe and I were invited by some friends to "Manilow on Ice" in the middle of the month.
Now I know what you're thinking . . . How does Barry manage to keep it fresh after so many years? Well the answer is, he doesn't. He mostly lip synced but it was a fun night. We had a private box, thanks to the Massagli's and we got to see the skating talents of such starlets as Sasha Cohen, Kristi Yamaguchi and wait for it . . . . Nancy Kerrigan! (This time with out the bashed knee caps.) All to the kind of glitz and swirly light show that only The Copa Cabana can illicit. We didn't want the kids left out of all the fun so later in the month, we high tailed it down to the Great Wolf Lodge with a few other friends. It's an indoor waterpark here in Washington; genius in a place that sees very few sunny days.
There were crafts . . .
Story times with super creepy animatronics. . .
Quests through the hallways with magic wands . . .
Hula Hoop contests for the young and old . . .
Pool side reading for the very pregnant . . .
And of course all sorts of water fun.
We ended the trip at our most favorite all you can eat joint, Izzy's and made sure not to leave with out a miniature cone.
