Firsts

Yes it's late but no less great and, "this is for posterity, so I try to be honest." (any other BYU dweebs catch that Princess Bride quote?) I have four, count 'em four kids at four different schools. Gunner has begun school again at Pine Tree elementary, Scottie is at Millennium with our family's all time favorite teacher Mrs. Chamberlain and Tess is rocking her afternoons at Sunshine Mountain Christian Preschool. On Thursdays, and I am reluctant to make this public, Betsy and Tess go to Mom's Day Out at the Methodist church where the kids do Bible school. So for three hours each Thursday I'm beholden to no one but myself. Of course I plan to use the time to volunteer in the kids classrooms, something I've never been able to do before. I've even signed up to be an art docent. So Between the Methodists and Lutherans I feel my kids are getting a head start on the religious confusion that seems to be prevalent today. I do my best. At any rate the pics are late but so was school.

Gunner , who says dude A LOT now, seemed to accept the return to the drudgery pretty well. As long as his four-square and wall-ball opponents are up to snuff he doesn't mind going. He is also playing goalie again on his soccer team and doing great.

Scottie has enjoyed it less. After a day or two back at the old grind she was told by a former friend that she wasn't "sexy" enough to play with her. (PHEW! Was that supposed to be a diss because as a mom I had to see it as a compliment. Anyway.) I hate to see Scottie hurt but we've tried to let her know we love her and she's always welcome here, preferably not with the word sexy scrawled across the buns of a too tight pair of shorts and eyeliner at age six. Oddly enough Scottie and the aforementioned girl were found playing, "pony and giraffe" at the playground when no one was looking so . . .

Tess is thoroughly enjoying Preschool having been waiting to go since the day she was born. She is happy to regale anything with a heart beat including birds and worms (we've been watching Enchanted a lot) with tales of Mrs. Molly or Mrs. Waugh and how great they are, how fun arts and crafts is and how much she loves show and tell. She has yet to wear anything remotely resembling pants to school but is swiftly exhausting her store of party dresses.

Betsy liked MDO better before she realized it was a permanent thing but we think she'll come around. She has a serious weakness for glue sticks and paint with water activity books and that place is rife with them. She also has a total love of scissors. I warily let her proceed to cut bits of paper into confetti against my better judgement and voila! She is officially a bang cutter. As if her hair didn't have troubles enough! She has also started going to gymnastics with her sisters and loves donning a leo and flipping out with her favorite coaches Tammi and Rae.
